Febacip Plus is a comprehensive medication that addresses roundworm and tapeworm infections in both dogs and puppies. It eliminates various types of tapeworms (such as taenia pisiformis, dipylidium caninum, echinococcus multilocularis, echinococcus granulosus), hookworms (including uncinaria stenocephala and ancylostoma caninum), whipworms (trichuris vulpis), and ascarids (toxascaris leonina and toxocara canis) in dogs.
The precise dosage of Febacip Plus for a dog should be determined by a veterinarian. The dosage may vary based on the dog's health condition. Always follow your vet's instructions carefully when administering this medication to your dog.
Puppies as young as 2 weeks can be treated with this medication. The dose should be administered every two weeks. Once the puppy reaches 3 months of age, continue treatment at 3-month intervals from that point forward. You can either give the pill whole directly into your dog's mouth or crush the tablet and mix it with their food. Never administer more than the prescribed dose. If you miss a dose, skip it and resume the usual schedule with the next dose.
Your dog should not be treated with Febacip Plus if you suspect they may be allergic to any of its ingredients. If you are unsure, consult your veterinarian before administering the medication. Always inform your vet if your pet is on any other medications or if they are pregnant or nursing puppies.
Make sure your dog is free of fleas before starting Febacip Plus, as fleas can carry worms, which means your dog could become re-infested if they have fleas. Febacip Plus is not recommended for PREGNANT ANIMALS, as it may lead to abortion or fetal abnormalities.
Take strict hygiene precautions when handling dogs or feces that may contain E. multilocularis. Parasite eggs can be present in the feces of dogs undergoing their first treatment and in dogs receiving treatments at intervals longer than 28 days. It is important to keep the animals at the clinic during this time. Be sure to dispose of all feces properly. Alternatively, you can neutralize the eggs by soaking the feces in a sodium hypochlorite (bleach) solution of 3.75% or more. Carefully clean any areas that the animal occupied with sodium hypochlorite and allow them to dry completely before reuse.
Febacip Plus not only combats disease but may also cause some side effects. Your pet may experience symptoms such as loss of appetite, excessive salivation, vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy. It can occasionally lead to bloody or mucoid stools and watery or profuse diarrhea. Contact your veterinarian if you notice any side effects.
